To bring a pet into the EU from Russia, they must have:
- a health certificate,
- a valid EU pet passport,
- a microchip and
- a rabies vaccination.
However, in cases where the EU citizen returns with a pet that does not have an EU model passport or some of the conditions for travel are not met - microchip marking of the pet, valid rabies vaccination.
On the basis of Regulation (EU) No 576/2013 Article 32, pets will be allowed to enter even if they are not fully prepared for entry into the EU.
In such cases, the person will have to fill in a notification form at the border crossing point. The form must be submitted to the customs authorities to ensure the traceability of the imported pets.
