The Food and Veterinary Service is a member of the International Organization for Animal Health (OIE).
Membership enables Latvia to obtain the status of a country free of infectious animal diseases, thus promoting export activities, as well as creating an opportunity for FVS specialists to participate in seminars, trainings and conferences organized by the OIE, acquiring knowledge and international experience in animal health and welfare.
The OIE provides a permanent exchange of information on the animal health status and situation of infectious animal diseases worldwide.
Maris Balodis, Director General of the Food and Veterinary Service, has been elected as a President of the European Regional Commission.
